Fluorescence Filters

Introduction

The application of fluorometry has increased rapidly within the bio-medical field due to higher sensitivity than photometric methods and due to the development of an increasing number of fluorochromes.

Fluorescence measurements require a pair of filters carefully matched to the absorption and emission spectra of the fluorescent colour compound to be analysed. An example of a pair of fluorescence filters manufactured by Ferroperm Optics A/S is shown below.

What to consider when ordering fluorescence filter

When ordering fluorescence filters from Ferroperm Optics A/S the following parameters are important to consider:

  1. Dimensions of the filter pair (e.g. square, circular, size etc.).
  2. Quantity.
  3. The overlap of absorption- and emissionspectra with the filter curves (i.e. HBW of filters.)
  4. How low should transmission be at the crossing point (it affects the signal to noise ratio)?
